The e-commerce market in China is dominated by two main providers: Tencent's WeChat Pay and Alibaba's Alipay.
Is it true that everyone talks on WeChat, but makes payments using Alipay? We look at some key data from 2016 to find out, comparing Alipay and WeChat Pay total users, money market and credit users, and the total number of physical vendors accepting payment from either Alipay or WeChat Pay.
We also take a look at Chinese mobile consumer behaviour, looking at the frequency of mobile payments, amount spent per transaction, and consumer spending choices.
