Commerzbank appoints joint country CEO, general manager Beijing
Tony Zhang will drive bank's business growth in China with a focus on cross-border business and developing solutions for Chinese firms to do business globally

Commerzbank has appointed Tony Zhang as joint country CEO China, general manager Beijing and head of China corporates coverage, effective July 2019. Zhang joined Commerzbank in April 2019 and succeeds Thomas Mueldner, who has relocated back to Frankfurt, Germany, to join the Mittelstandsbank Mitte management team responsible for large corporates.

Based in Beijing, Zhang reports to Nick Johnston, regional board member Asia, and will drive the bank’s business growth in China with a focus on cross-border business and developing financial solutions and opportunities for Chinese corporates looking to do business globally. 

Zhang joins from Commonwealth Bank of Australia, where he was Deputy CEO China, Beijing Branch Manager and head of banks, Asia. Prior to that, he held various global management positions at Deutsche Bank, Bank of America and Lehman Brothers.
