Aberdeen Standard Investments (ASI) has appointed David Lam as head of Hong Kong. Lam will manage the Hong Kong team and drive a long-term growth strategy for the business.

This entails overseeing the planning and development of the Hong Kong business, and ensuring it is aligned with the strategic objectives for the Asia Pacific region. He also supports relationships with key investors and distributors. He reports to Ian Macdonald, deputy head of Asia Pacific for ASI.

Lam possesses a wealth of knowledge and more than thirty years of experience in asset management and private wealth management. His most recent position was acting as chairman of the Advisory Board at Carret Private Investments. His previous roles include: managing director and head of North Asia for Coutts; managing director, Asia Pacific for GAM; and director of Private Wealth Services, Asia Pacific for Merrill Lynch.

"David's track record in the financial services industry is impressive and his appointment signifies the commitment we have to our clients in Hong Kong. We are seeing good momentum in the local business right now. In addition, Hong Kong also provides a gateway for assets flowing in and out of the mainland China. I am confident that under his leadership, we have the right team and capability in place to accelerate our growth in this important market," comments Ian Macdonald, deputy head of Asia Pacific, ASI.
