Barclays appoints head of equities, Asia-Pacific
Matt Pecot now responsible for leading the equities franchise in Asia-Pacific
The Asset 9 May 2018

BARCLAYS has appointed Matt Pecot as head of equities Asia-Pacific.

Pecot is based in Hong Kong and is responsible for leading the equities franchise in Asia-Pacific. Pecot joins Barclays with almost 25 years of experience, most recently serving as head of prime services and head of equities distribution in Asia-Pacific at Credit Suisse. In this role, he managed all client-facing teams across cash, derivatives, and prime, and was instrumental in the team achieving a top two position in prime services.

Prior to Credit Suisse, Pecot was head of prime services and prime brokerage services in Asia-Pacific at UBS between 2004 and 2007, before his appointment as head of prime brokerage services for the Americas at the firm. In that role, he successfully transformed the US Prime Brokerage franchise.

Stephen Dainton, global head of equities, says: “We remain focused on areas that are aligned with our existing strategy and in businesses where there are clear, competitive advantages. We have a strong business in Asia and I am confident that Matt will build out our equity derivatives and equity financing offerings in the region as we look to increase market share and profitability.”
