Alternative investment platform iCapital has appointed two senior executives to strengthen its leadership team in the Asia-Pacific and Europe, the Middle East and Africa regions.

Tuan Lam will join the firm as head of APAC while Daniel Imhof has been named head of client solutions, EMEA.

Founded in 2013, New York City-based iCapital now services more than US$191 billion in assets, including US$30 billion originating from investors outside the United States.

The momentum of iCapital’s international expansion aligns with the rise of the alternatives industry, underscoring that private markets have become a strategic priority for wealth managers aiming for diversification and potentially higher returns, the New York City-based fintech firm says.

Asset management expertise

Lam joins iCapital with over 30 years of expertise in asset management and investment banking. Most recently, he was a partner at Goldman Sachs where he served in various senior leadership roles, including chairman of the client solutions group and head of client business for Goldman Sachs Asset Management in Asia ex-Japan.

Before that, he was instrumental in building the firm’s alternatives investments and manager selection business in Asia, focusing on private equity and hedge funds investments, secondary transactions, and direct co-investments.

Based in Hong Kong, Lam will report to Marco Bizzozero, head of international.

Meanwhile, Edwin Chan will continue to focus on strategic client and business development activities in APAC as head of client solutions in the region.

EMEA client solutions

Imhof will join iCapital as head of EMEA client solutions. He will spearhead the firm’s business development activities and expand its client base in the region.

In particular, he will focus on banks, wealth management organizations, and independent financial advisers across EMEA.

Imhof has over 30 years of expertise in wealth and asset management. He held global senior leadership positions at Credit Suisse, Schroders, and UBS.

Most recently, he was the global head of investment management at Credit Suisse and a voting member of the global investment committee responsible for the firm’s house view. In addition, he was also chair of the investment committee of the Credit Suisse Pension Fund.

Before joining Credit Suisse, Imhof was head of global sales at Schroders based in London, and prior to this, he spent more than 20 years at UBS, where he last served as global head, portfolio specialists, in the UBS wealth management division.

Based in Zurich, Imhof will also report to Bizzozero.
