Maybank Singapore, Liquid launch merchant QR payment terminal
Solution allows for contactless digital payments amid Covid-19 pandemic
The Asset 9 Apr 2020

Against the current backdrop of social distancing measures and temporary branch closures, Maybank Singapore and the Liquid Group, a quick response (QR) payment solutions firm, have launched a QR payment terminal solution.

The solution is a new way for merchants to receive contactless digital payments securely and efficiently, something that merchants and the public have been encouraged to use amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The merchants are able to use the QR payment terminal to generate a dynamic PayNow QR code with which each customer can transact via PayNow without keying in the bill amount.

The all-in-one terminal supports the mobile banking apps of all 9 PayNow participating banks in Singapore and is able to accept non-bank mobile payment apps, such as UnionPay QR, WeChat and GrabPay, among others.
