The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) has appointed Margaret W.S. Chan as the institute's new chief executive and registrar. Chan will assume her new position on July 11.

Chan is a member of the HKICPA, bringing with her over 30 years of work experience in accounting, finance and corporate development. Prior to joining the institute, she worked for the Hong Kong Housing Society as director of Corporate Planning and Finance.

"We shall maintain our momentum on expanding innovative membership services and support, thought leadership as well as international convergence in all aspects of our work to prepare to ride on the wave of the Accounting Plus era," says Chan.

Chan said she would be working closely with the Council to define objectives and strategies to provide a clear direction and focus for the institute's work ahead.
