AGIC Capital has acquired Fotona, a European manufacturer of lasers for mostly medical and dental purposes.

AGIC will receive full ownership of the business, which it has acquired from The Gores Group, an LA investment firm. The value of the sale has not been disclosed.

Fotona, which was founded in 1964, is now one of the leading brands of medical, dental and aesthetic laser applications across Europe and the United States.

With the investment and management support from AGIC, Fotona will be able to maintain its leading position across the United States and Europe and accelerate its growth in Asia, in particular China – its fastest growing market.

Sam Sun, managing director and head of Greater China for AGIC comments, “China is now the fastest growing market for medical and aesthetic lasers and with our support, the business will be well positioned to become a leading brand across Asia.”
