Risen Energy to provide panels for Malaysian floating solar mega project
Chinese solar panel maker will provide 150MW of solar PV modules for floating facility
Michael Marray 22 Oct 2019

Chinese solar panel maker Risen Energy has signed a contract to provide 150MW of solar PV modules for a Malaysian floating solar project.

Malaysia's Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Yeo Bee Yin attended the signing ceremony. It is the biggest module order Risen Energy has won to date, both for Malaysia and for any international floating power facility.

Risen Energy will be delivering its Jaeger 144 modules, each one providing up to 395W, for the floating PV facility. The company said in a statement that it intends to ship the modules in batches starting this month, with final deliveries in June 2020.

"Malaysia is one of our key emerging markets as it boasts abundant light resources and policies favourable to the industry,” says Xie Jian, president of Risen Energy. "To ensure the smooth operation of the power station, once completed, we will equip the facility with our Jaeger modules, which have proven better performance in resistance to light induced degradation (LID) and light and elevated temperature-induced degradation (LeTID).”

Risen Energy is listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. The company has recently boosted its presence in markets in the US, Europe, Southeast Asia, Central Asia and the Asia-Pacific region.

In Central Asia, Risen Energy's 40MW and 63MW PV power plant projects in Kazakhstan featured financing from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The company said earlier this year that it is particularly bullish about the Eastern European market, where the Polish market has attracted most of its attention.
