The Asset 20 Dec 2019

State Street Corporation has appointed Fumihiko Yonezawa as deputy president, State Street Trust and Banking, Co., Ltd., and Ryo Nakamura as head of Sector Solutions Japan, effective immediately. Based in Tokyo, both roles report to Jason Rich, head of Sector Solutions, Asia-Pacific, in addition to the local reporting to Mark Hamilton, president of State Street Trust and Banking, Co., Ltd.

“We continue to see Japan as a significant growth market for our Asia-Pacific business and we will continue to invest in and expand our sales team at State Street Trust and Banking to pursue our segment strategy and to serve the growing demand from Japanese clients,” says Hamilton.

In the newly created role, Yonezawa will focus on developing and supporting the sales opportunities including strengthening State Street’s client segment strategy in the Japanese market and deepening our client relationships within each segment.

Yonezawa joins State Street from J.P. Morgan where he held the role of managing director, head of Investor Services Japan for eight years. Prior to J.P. Morgan, he was the general manager, Securities & Custody Business Development Department at Mizuho Trust & Banking Co., Ltd.

As head of Sector Solutions for Japan, Nakamura will be responsible for owning and driving new revenue opportunities in Japan across key client segments: asset managers, asset owners, insurers, official institutions, alternatives and wealth management.

Nakamura will be responsible for expanding and deepening the pipeline of opportunities across the firm's segments. Both Nakamura and Yonezawa will facilitate product innovation and coordination with clients and prospects.

He will also lead the Japanese sales team to offer cross-enterprise solutions such as accounting, custody, fund administration, securities lending, data solutions and identifying opportunities within the firm's client segments.

Nakamura most recently served as head of Enterprise Buyside Solutions Japan for Bloomberg, offering Japanese asset managers full trade cycle services from research, portfolio analytics, risk compliance to post trade settlement. In his more than 13 years at Bloomberg, he held a number of senior sales roles including head of Global Markets Group for Japan and team leader for the electronic trading business in Japan.
