Kwanhyun Kim has over 26 years of experience in real estate transactions, projects
The Asset 20 Aug 2024

Asia-Pacific private real estate manager Phoenix Property Investors has appointed Kwanhyun (Tommy) Kim as its managing director and head of South Korea.

Kim is an industry veteran with over 26 years of experience in real estate transactions and projects, including those involving commercial, residential, logistics, hospitality and mixed-use residential properties.

Prior to joining Phoenix, Kim was CEO of Hangang Asset Management, achieving assets under management growth of 46% to 2.41 trillion South Korean won (US$1.8 billion) during his three-year tenure. He also served as the division head of global investment at Samsung SRA Asset Management and at Korea Telecom consulting for its real estate arm.

With the hire of Kim, Phoenix plans to hire additional team members and move to a new Seoul office location, One WestSeoul, after construction is completed in 2025.

The real estate manager’s CIO and co-founder, Sam Chu adds: “Kim’s extensive local, international knowledge and relationships align perfectly with our shared goals to expand and invest in the strategically important South Korea market.”
