International law firm Herbert Smith Freehills has appointed Jojo Fan as managing partner, China, for a three-year term from August 1.
Fan, a Hongkonger and a commercial litigation partner since 2020, will work closely with Nanda Lau, head of Beijing and Shanghai.
Fan succeeds partner Matt Emsley, who will continue to focus on his Hong Kong capital markets practice.
"Under Jojo's leadership, the team will continue to support our domestic and international clients' ambitions in China, particularly through outbound investment to Southeast Asia and the Middle East, and in energy transition, private capital, and tech," says Asia managing partner Graeme Preston.

A partner since 2020, Fan has a broad commercial litigation practice and extensive experience advising clients on cross-border China-related disputes. She specializes in contentious banking litigation and advises clients on boardroom, shareholder, and joint-venture disputes.
Fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin, Fan graduated from the University of Hong Kong with bachelor's degrees in law and social sciences (government and laws), and is qualified in both Hong Kong and England & Wales.
