EY bolsters Asia-Pacific leadership team
Yew-Poh Mak named as deputy area managing partner and Shannon Cotter as strategy and transactions leader in the region

Accounting major EY has appointed Yew-Poh Mak as Asia-Pacific deputy area managing partner, succeeding Harsha Basnayake, who has assumed the role of global managing partner – business administration and risk.

Meanwhile, Shannon Cotter has been appointed Asia-Pacific strategy and transactions leader, succeeding Mak.

In his new role, Mak works closely with the area managing partner and operating executive in the region to drive execution of EY strategy and deliver exceptional service to clients. In addition, he focuses on building out strategic capabilities and operational excellence to achieve alignment, efficiencies and growth across the region.

Mak has over 30 years of management consulting and corporate management experience. He was EY’s Asia-Pacific strategy and transactions leader, working with clients to drive capital allocation and strategy execution, and focusing on large-scale and complex cross-border transactions.

Currently based in Singapore, Mak has spent 20 years of his career in China, where he has worked extensively with multinationals, private equity firms and large Asian conglomerates.

Mak received an MS degree in aeronautics and astronautics engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Cotter is a partner with EY and has 25 years’ experience in leading and advising clients on infrastructure, franchising and service contracting projects in the transport sector.

She has been involved in an impressive portfolio of projects, including Sydney Ferries Franchising, Sydney Metro City & Southwest, Melbourne Train and Tram Franchising, Melbourne Metro, Port of Hastings, Regional Rail Link, and UK Rail Franchising.

She has a bachelor of commerce (hons) degree from the University of Melbourne.
