GTT receives order for tank design of ten LNG carriers

Gaztransport and Technigaz (GTT), the French maritime LNG storage technology company, has received orders from a Chinese shipyard for work on liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers for QatarEnergy.

Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co Ltd has placed an order for the tank design of ten new very large LNG carriers. GTT will design the tanks, five for each vessel, with a total capacity of 271,000 cubic metres.

Delivery is scheduled between the first quarter of 2030 and the fourth quarter of 2031.

The vessels are part of the Hundred Ships Programme to handle deliveries from multiple Qatari expansion projects in the Arabian Gulf.

GTT, listed on Euronext Paris, is a technology and engineering group with expertise in the design and development of cryogenic membrane containment systems for use in the transport and storage of LNG.

The company also recently announced that it has received an order from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries for a tank design of a new floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) ordered by Japanese shipowner Mitsui OSK Lines. The delivery of the FSRU is scheduled for the third quarter of 2027.
