Asia-based private market digital securities exchange Alta Exchange (AltaX), Phillip Securities and global private markets investment management firm Hamilton Lane will join the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)’s Project Guardian, an initiative between policymakers and the financial industry to enhance the liquidity and efficiency of financial markets through asset tokenization. 

Alongside joining Project Guardian, the three firms are collaborating on a use case aiming to broaden access to the tokenized version of Hamilton Lane’s Senior Credit Opportunities (Scope) Fund listed on AltaX, which launched in March of 2023. The Scope Fund is an all-weather senior private credit evergreen vehicle intended for investors seeking potential safety and yield.

Tokenizing and listing the Scope Fund on AltaX marked the completion of the first of two strategic phases for the partnership. Phase one gave accredited and institutional investors the ability to manage their risk exposure dynamically, respond to market conditions with agility, and seamlessly engage with a global community of active traders and market makers, thereby enhancing liquidity and market depth.

Phase two aims to look at other ways to broaden access to private credit, including by exploring the potential to introduce the world’s first Shariah-compliant tokenized private credit fund, with the aim of serving the underserved and rapidly growing global Islamic funds market.
