Standard Chartered expands fixed income team
Bank hires four specialists to strengthen discretionary portfolio management and chief investment office capabilities

Standard Chartered has added four specialists to its global team based in Singapore to strengthen its discretionary portfolio management (DPM) and chief investment office (CIO) capabilities.

Expanding its DPM team, the bank has appointed Alicia Chu as head of fixed income mandates. She is leading a team of portfolio managers for fixed income discretionary mandates.

Joining from Bank of Singapore, Chu is a seasoned fixed income investment professional with over 14 years’ experience, focusing on credit markets in Asia and emerging markets. She has an established track record of delivering solid returns and managing risks through market cycles.

Alvin Chua, who joins the bank from DBS, has been named senior portfolio manager for multi-asset mandates. In his new role, Chua is responsible for the management of global multi-asset mandates for ultra-high-net-worth clients. He has 16 years of experience in portfolio management in multi-asset strategy.

Chu and Chua report to Daniel Furer, global head for discretionary portfolio management.

Kan Jun Yang has been appointed portfolio manager for fixed income. Reporting to Chu. Kan will focus on managing discretionary fixed income portfolios primarily invested in global credit strategies and provide credit research coverage for portfolio holdings, with focus on corporate bonds.

He has five years’ experience from Deutsche Bank, where he honed his expertise in managing discretionary fixed income portfolios.

Rayson Heung joined the CIO team in early June as senior investment strategist for fixed income. He is contributing to the bank’s house view for global fixed income asset classes as well as high conviction ideas.

Heung is an experienced analyst with 20 years’ experience in emerging and developed bond markets which he developed during stints at leading international financial institutions before joining Standard Chartered. He is based in Singapore and reports to Manpreet Gill, CIO, Africa, Middle East and Europe.
