Private equity firm Gaw Capital Partners has appointed Oliver Yates as head of climate tech strategy for Australia. He brings decades of experience in financial markets, climate tech and clean energy investment.
Under his leadership, Clean Energy Finance Corp (CEFC) was established in 2012 to accelerate investment into Australia’s clean energy sector. At Macquarie Group, he held leadership positions as an executive director at Macquarie Bank, US country head, and co-head of Macquarie Capital Private Placements and Macquarie Capital Financial Products.
Yates will lead the strategic expansion of Gaw Capital in Australia with a focus on investments in climate tech and energy transition, leveraging his considerable network and expertise in the sector.
Gaw Capital Partners says it is expanding its investment activities in the climate tech, energy transition, and sustainability sectors, and Yates will accelerate the building of the firm’s investment team and portfolio.
The firm’s initiatives in climate tech investment include the development and construction of utility-scale battery storage systems, electric-vehicle charging infrastructure, and next-generation, long-duration energy storage technology.
