Asset management firm abrdn has appointed Tina Tong as its head of wholesale distribution in Hong Kong, a role in which she will be responsible for strengthening relationships with key intermediary distributors and delivering the firm’s wholesale value proposition to clients in Hong Kong. She reports to David Hanzl, head of wholesale, Asia-Pacific.

As a veteran in the asset management industry, Tina's career spans over 20 years. Most recently, she was the vice-president for distribution at Matthews Asia. During her 10-year tenure at Matthews Asia, she was responsible for fund distribution activities to private banks, family offices, fund of funds, enterprise asset managers and insurance companies. Prior to that, she served as director of business development at Peak Capital where she was involved in offering investment solutions to institutions, private banks, insurers and financial advisers.

“The wholesale business in Asia-Pacific is core to abrdn’s growth strategy, and Hong Kong is a critical to the success of that,” Hanzl says. “Tong’s in-depth knowledge and acute understanding of local clients will be vital, as we focus on delivering a diverse array of future-fit investment solutions to investors. Having her and our high-calibre team on the ground enables us to drive our distribution strategy in Asia and position the company for stronger growth in the region over the long term.

“By strengthening our wholesale distribution capability in the region, we are well positioned to tap into investor’s appetite for sustainable Asian and China investments as well as income-generating products.”
