Fidelity, Moonfare broaden private asset access
Alternative investments continue to play important role in long-term asset allocations
The Asset 25 May 2022

Asset manager Fidelity International and digital investment platform Moonfare are expanding their strategic partnership into Asia with Moonfare providing Fidelity’s institutional and eligible clients in Hong Kong and Singapore with access to private market strategies through its digital platform.

Fidelity’s clients, such as banks and family offices through their advisers, may access Moonfare’s digital platform and private assets, including private equity, private debt, infrastructure and real estate, in a scalable way. The service will be rolled out to other Asian markets at a later stage.

The partnership, which started in April 2021 in major parts of Europe, including Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France and the UK, serves rising demand for private markets strategies.

“Until now, private assets have only been accessible to a limited group of investors,” says Rajeev Mittal, managing director, Asia-Pacific, ex-Japan, at Fidelity. “Our ambition is to democratize this asset class so that more investors can gain access to the benefits private assets could offer.”

Johann Santer, head of private banking, wealth and strategic clients, Asia-Pacific, ex-Japan, at Fidelity, adds: “With ongoing pressure on investor returns expected in public markets, alternative investments continue to play an important role in long-term asset allocations. As a result, we are seeing increasing interest from clients to diversify further into private assets.”
