DLA Piper hires capital markets partner in Hong Kong
George Wu's appointment part of firm’s push to strengthen transactional services across Asia
The Asset 29 Nov 2021

Law firm DLA Piper has appointed George Wu as a capital markets partner in its corporate practice, based in Hong Kong, as part of its aim to strengthen its Asia capital markets offering.

Wu, who joins the firm from Herbert Smith Freehills in Hong Kong, has experience advising on initial public offerings, follow-on offerings in Hong Kong and US capital markets, as well as debt offering transactions, including investment-grade and high-yield bonds, convertible and exchangeable bonds and medium-term note programmes.

He also brings in-depth industry knowledge to the table, having advised clients on dozens of corporate transactions in various sectors, including healthcare and life sciences, technology and consumer goods, among others.

“[Wu’s] appointment further demonstrates our commitment to strengthening our transactional services across Asia, in particular our capital markets practice in Greater China,” says Luke Gannon, head of DLA Piper’s corporate practice in Asia.

“We are positive about the growth outlook for capital markets in Asia, and are focused on building our practice with excellent talent to meet increasing client demand,” adds Bob Bishop, global co-chair of the firm’s corporate group. “Wu is an impressive corporate lawyer with good international experience.”
