New roles for Swiss Re’s Asia management team
Mark Senkevics and Sharon Ooi swap jobs
The Asset 30 Jul 2020

Reinsurer Swiss Re has named Mark Senkevics as head of property and casualty (P&C) underwriting in the Asia-Pacific region and Sharon Ooi to take on his previous role as head of the firm’s business in Australia and New Zealand.

Over the last decade, Senkevics has led Swiss Re in Australia and New Zealand across both the life and health, and P&C businesses. He had previously held branch head roles in Taiwan and South Korea, and currently sits on the board of the Insurance Council of Australia and is a committee member on the life board of the Financial Services Council.

Ooi has been with Swiss Re since 2006 following its acquisition of GE Insurance Solutions, and has held numerous roles within the company, including that of head of P&C underwriting, Asia-Pacific, which she will hand over to Senkevics. She will continue to lead the firm’s diversity and inclusion efforts across the Asia-Pacific region.

"These appointees bring decades of experience into their new roles," says Russell Higginbotham, Swiss Re Asia’s CEO. "I have no doubt that they will help steer us – and our clients – through these unprecedented times."
