J.P. Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM) announced April 23 the appointment of Sherene Ban as head of Singapore and Southeast Asia.

Ban will be responsible for distribution strategy for the firm’s institutional and retail clients in the region. This will include oversight of sales and client services and the firm’s Singapore and Southeast Asia based team of dedicated client facing professionals.

Ban replaces Steven Billiet, who left the firm in late February. She will be based in Singapore and will report to Dan Watkins, Asia-Pacific chief executive officer, J.P. Morgan Asset Management.

A native Singaporean, Ban was most recently based in London for JPMAM. She was most recently head of the global beta investment specialist team in the firm’s global asset management solutions team, where she significantly grew the firm’s client relationships and drove product development across smart beta, factor investing, ETFs and multi-asset strategies.

Prior to that, she worked for 11 years in various roles across EMEA and the Asia-Pacific, including co-heading the firm’s investment specialist team for emerging markets and Asia-Pacific equities. Prior to joining JPMAM in 2005, Ban served as a portfolio manager for Asia-Pacific equities at the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation for six years.
