Gerd Pircher has been appointed regional head, Latin America, for HSBC’s global trade and receivables finance (GTRF) business, effective February 1 2014.
 
He will be based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Reporting functionally to James Emmett, global head of GTRF, and regionally to Eddie Norton, head of commercial banking, Latin America, he will also join the GTRF executive committee.
 
Pircher joined HSBC in 1995 in the Middle East. A fluent Portuguese speaker, he previously managed the Brazilian trade finance operations. During his 19 years at HSBC, he has held a number of roles in commercial banking across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America, and is currently head of strategy and planning for HSBC’s Europe business.
 
Wei Wei Ng has been named head of international, GTRF Asia-Pacific, effective  February 15 2014.
 
Ng replaces Quang Huynh who was recently appointed as head of commercial banking for HSBC Indonesia. Previously head of GTRF for HSBC’s
Malaysia business, she will be based in Hong Kong and will have responsibility for supporting the development of clients’ international business across nine GTRF sites (Taiwan, Korea, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, New Zealand, Brunei, Japan, Thailand and The Philippines). She will report to Simon Constantinides, regional head of GTRF Asia-Pacific.
 
Lorna Strong has been appointed deputy general counsel for GTRF, starting January 1 this year. She will be based in London and reports to Jonathan Peplow, global general counsel, HSBC commercial banking. She has also joined the GTRF executive committee.
 

Strong joined HSBC Canada in 2001, as senior legal counsel and became deputy general counsel in 2007.
