MVGX, BDO help Indonesian firms decarbonize
Carbon connect solution aids accounting network clients’, national net-zero efforts
Tom King 25 Sep 2023

Singapore-based carbon software-as-a-service company MVGX Tech and the Indonesian unit of global accounting network BDO International have joined in a partnership that aims to empower corporations, government departments and institutions to decarbonize their operations.

This partnership comes against the accelerated timeline Indonesia has set for itself to meet its net-zero targets before 2060.

BDO says it will be able to kickstart its Indonesian clients’ sustainability actions and strengthen their existing environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives through MVGX’s Carbon Connect Suite.

The suite is an end-to-end set of products, software and services that enable corporations, governments and institutions to meet their sustainability commitments.

Specifically, under the suite, BDO clients will be able to leverage the carbon management and rating systems that allow companies to evaluate and benchmark their carbon emissions against industry peers, while accessing qualitative feedback on milestones achieved and progress to date against their sustainability goals.

This is done based on the companies’ Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, and assessed based on eight modules that consider factors like existing emissions reduction measures and investments in carbon reduction projects.

These measurements are essential in keeping organizations accountable, enabling them to effectively track, measure and monitor the quality of their efforts in line with a customized methodology and risk assessment framework based on internationally-recognized standards.

The reports will also allow Indonesian exporters to mitigate the impact of stringent carbon tariffs being introduced across international markets.

Thano Tanubrata, BDO’s CEO in Indonesia, says: “BDO is proud to help clients reduce their carbon footprint and achieve net-zero emissions, which will have a direct impact on achieving Indonesia’s net-zero emissions targets.
