SSGA appoints head of portfolio strategists for Asia ex-Japan
STATE Street Global Advisors (SSGA), the asset management arm of State Street Corporation, has appointed Johnnie Yung as head of portfolio strategists for Asia ex-Japan, with effect from 30 October 2017.

STATE Street Global Advisors (SSGA), the asset management arm of State Street Corporation, has appointed Johnnie Yung as head of portfolio strategists for Asia ex-Japan, with effect from 30 October 2017.

Based in Hong Kong, Yung is responsible for developing portfolio recommendations, and presenting SSGA investment strategies and solutions to institutional investors in the Asia ex-Japan region. Yung reports to Jonathan Shead, head of portfolio strategists, APAC, who is based in Australia.

“Johnnie has a deep wealth of knowledge in portfolio management in index and quantitative equities. His extensive experience in developing investment strategies will be an invaluable asset for SSGA, driving us to continue to deliver solutions that meet clients’ specific objectives,” says Shead.

Yung has over 20 years of experience in the asset management industry. Yung most recently served as director and head of beta strategies portfolio management, Asia ex-Japan, for BlackRock, where he led a team of portfolio managers who manage global passive equity funds in the region. Prior to that, he held a number of senior roles including portfolio manager at Dacheng Fund Management and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board, head of strategic and business development at DBS Bank, and senior director, product development, at RBS Bank.
