HSBC announces the appointment of Kerry Wong as managing director, head of PayMe. She will report functionally to Kee Joo Wong and on an entity basis to Greg Hingston. She joins from online real estate and advertising multinational REA Group, where she was CEO for Greater China.

Prior to this, Wong held senior operations and strategy roles at eBay, PayPal and American Express, leading key business partnerships, expansion into new markets and launches of mobile and digital payments products. Wong will lead PayMe and PayMe for Business, HSBC’s proprietary social payments app for Hong Kong consumers and small businesses. With over 1.7 million customers and 3,800 merchants, PayMe’s consumer and business offering continues to grow, with record numbers of peer-to-merchant transactions last month. She will drive the business to deliver growth and innovation to help change the way people and businesses transact in Hong Kong.

Kee Joo Wong, regional head of global liquidity and cash management, Asia-Pacific, HSBC, says, “We are delighted to welcome Kerry Wong as the new lead of PayMe by HSBC.”

“Kerry brings with her extensive leadership experience in financial multinationals and start-ups, where she has driven the operations and strategy for mobile and digital products. We are committed to continuing to drive PayMe’s growth as we bolster our consumer and corporate offering, to make transactions in Hong Kong instant, social and community-driven,” he says.

HSBC thanks Stephan Levieux for his interim support over the last few months. Levieux will continue to lead the operations for PayMe and PayMe for Business.
