Francis Woo appointed chief financial officer, Joyce Chan joins as head of intermediaries
The Asset 13 Jan 2020

EASTSPRING Investments (Eastspring), the Asian investment management arm of Prudential plc, announced January 8 two senior appointments. Francis Woo has been appointed chief financial officer (CFO) and Joyce Chan has joined the firm as head of Intermediaries and, subject to regulatory approval, general manager of the Hong Kong office.

Based in Singapore, Woo is responsible for the financial management of the business and will work closely with the regional teams. Reporting to Wai-Kwong Seck, chief executive, Eastspring, he will also become a member of the firm’s management committee.

Previously, Woo was CFO, Asia, for TPG Capital Asia, where he oversaw the firm’s profitability and the performance of its investments in Asia. Prior to joining TPG in 2012, he worked in investment banking with Credit Suisse Group AG, UBS Investment Bank and Credit Suisse First Boston.

As head of Intermediaries in Hong Kong, Chan will be responsible for driving the sales and distribution of Eastspring’s products through key wholesale and intermediary distribution channels. In this role she will report to Glen Lee, head of Intermediary Sales, who is based in Singapore.

In addition, Chan will oversee general administration and regulatory matters as the general manager of the Hong Kong office, and in this role will report to Xavier Meyer, head of Distribution, Eastspring. With Chan’s appointment (subject to regulatory approval), Boon Peng Ooi will relinquish his position as chief executive of Eastspring in Hong Kong, allowing him to focus on his role as chief executive of Eastspring Singapore and head of Investment Strategies.

Chan joins Eastspring from PineBridge Investments Asia, where she spent 10 years – primarily in business development roles. In her most recent role, as senior vice president of Business Development, she developed the intermediary business for Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia, and was responsible for client assets of nearly US$11 billion. Over the course of her 20-year career, Chan has worked with Allianz Global Investors, UBS Asset Management and HSBC Global Asset Management.
