Morgan Stanley Investment Management hires new head of Korea
Yoon Pyo Lee will be responsible for overseeing and growing the firm’s asset management business in Korea and will be based in Seoul
The Asset 7 May 2019

Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) has appointed Yoon Pyo Lee as a managing director and head of Korea, MSIM announced May 7. In this new role, Lee will be responsible for overseeing and growing the firm’s asset management business in Korea and will be based in Seoul.

Lee was most recently senior executive vice president and co-CEO of Truston Asset Management, a Korean asset management firm.

Prior to this, he spent several years at the National Pension Service of Korea (NPS) in various senior leadership roles including head of the global private market investment division and head of Investment Strategy. He also served as a member of NPS’ Investment Committee, and Special Committee for Private Market Investments, in addition to founding NPS’ global alternative investment program in 2008.

“We are excited to welcome YP to MSIM to deepen and broaden our relationships with major asset owners and distribution platforms in Korea,” said Hiro Shimizu, head of Japan and Korea for MSIM. “His appointment reflects our confidence in the growth prospects of Korea’s asset management industry and the continued need for local asset owners to diversify investments abroad.”

Steve Han, Morgan Stanley’s Korea CEO, comments, “YP is a strong addition to the firm in Korea. Given his many years of experience in this market, he is well positioned to deliver MSIM’s global capabilities to our Korean clients.”
