Manulife announces senior appointments in Hong Kong
Supporting growth strategies, focus on serving the customer

Manulife announced the appointment of three executives to its senior management team in Hong Kong. William Man has been named chief information officer and chief operations officer, Hong Kong. Ivan Chan has been appointed chief partnership distribution officer, Hong Kong. Selina Ko has been promoted to chief human resources officer, Hong Kong, and head of employee relations Asia.

"William, Ivan and Selina are well-regarded leaders with proven track records in delivering results. We are delighted to announce these appointments in recognition of their leadership and contribution. It is also an important step in further supporting our growth strategies and focus on serving the customer," said Guy Mills, chief executive officer of Manulife Hong Kong.

Man, as the new chief information officer and chief operations officer, is responsible for leading Manulife Hong Kong's information technology and digital execution strategies, as well as core insurance operations such as underwriting, claims and customer service functions. He also oversees the portfolio management and delivery services functions, which comprise business analysis and solution design and delivery, to help enhance future effectiveness. His other responsibilities include championing Manulife's customer experience transformation through accelerated developments in customer centricity, digital journey and operational efficiency. He reports to Mills.

Man has over 30 years of experience in the life insurance industry. He joined Manulife-Sinochem Life Insurance in 2007 and became its chief operating officer in January 2013. Most recently he served as the interim chief information officer and chief operations officer of Manulife Hong Kong, during which tenure he demonstrated strong leadership in crafting and executing information technology and business operation strategies.

Chan has been appointed chief partnership distribution officer, heading Manulife's partnership distribution function in Hong Kong and overseeing the distribution of Manulife products through a sales network spanning banks, brokers and individual financial advisers. Chan is also responsible for implementing effective distribution models and strategies by deploying sales support capabilities, sales incentive campaigns and product sales training to drive channel growth from these partnerships. He continues to report to Lawrence Nutting, chief distribution officer of Manulife Hong Kong.

Since joining Manulife Hong Kong in 1999, Chan has taken up various cross-market leadership roles in Hong Kong, Macau and Malaysia, helping to drive individual insurance product marketing and agency operations. He was most recently vice-president and head of business development, distribution operations, contributing to the expansion of Manulife's individual insurance business in Hong Kong and the marketing of a range of insurance solutions through agency and other distribution channels. He holds a master's degree in business administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and is a fellow of the Life Management Institute.

Ko has been promoted to chief human resources officer Hong Kong, and head of employee relations Asia. In her new role, Ko continues to focus on building high-performing teams and a culture that brings the best interest to customers, employees and shareholders of Manulife. Working closely with executives across the company's business units, she also provides leadership in the development and execution of people strategies to help position Manulife as an employer of choice in Asia. She reports to Mills and David Thomas, senior vice-president for human resources at Manulife Asia.

Prior to joining Manulife in 2014 as assistant vice-president, human resources, Asia, Ko held a number of human resources roles in Hong Kong, Japan and Greater China at country, regional and group levels. She is a seasoned professional with more than 20 years' international experience in various areas, covering retail, wholesale and private banking, technology, mergers and acquisitions, talent development, and leadership coaching. She holds a master's degree in business administration and is a certified coach and an accredited mediator.
