UBS makes several hires in Japan to meet growing deal flow
UBS Securities Japan has made a series of senior hires in sales, trading and research in response to the growing client activity and deal flow in equity and fixed income. Several of the appointees are UBS alumni.

UBS Securities Japan has made a series of senior hires in sales, trading and research in response to the growing client activity and deal flow in equity and fixed income. Several of the appointees are UBS alumni.
Keith Truelove joins as managing director, head of distribution for Japan equity and deputy head of all of equity for Japan. He will report to division head Paul Redbourn and will join the firm’s Japan equity management committee. Most recently, Truelove served as global head of distribution for SMBC Nikko Securities and before that, he was at Mizuho Securities. He began his career at UBS where he worked in Japan equity sales in Tokyo, New York and San Francisco as well as in the UBS research team in Tokyo. Truelove’s appointment is effective in November 2017.
Kei Takahashi is also returning to UBS to become the telecommunications and software analyst in the research department. He brings 20 years of experience from both the buy-side and the sell-side and most recently, he was at Mizuho Securities. He previously worked at UBS, Meiji Dresdner Asset Management and Sumitomo Life. Takahashi’s appointment is also effective in November 2017.
Akifumi Hayashi is joining UBS research to take responsibility for leading the Japanese materials area. With 17 years of experience, he joins from Mizuho Securities and prior to that, he worked for over 11 years covering the materials sector at Alliance Bernstein. Hayashi’s appointment will be effective very soon.
Yukihiro Koike has joined UBS in July this year to cover medical technology, an area of increased significance for Japan’s future. He was most recently a senior analyst at Point72 in Hong Kong, and before that, he was a medical technology analyst at Morgan Stanley Japan.
UBS has also made key hires in its FX, rates and credit team in Tokyo. Craig Humble has joined from BNP Paribas to trade yen interest rate swaps. He began his career at Citigroup and in addition to yen has traded US dollar swaps and interest rate options.
Arnault Teissier comes to UBS from Societe Generale and is trading Asia-Pacific cross-currency basis swaps, focusing on yen and Australian dollar. Both Humble and Teissier also joined UBS in July 2017.
