Citibank has received approval and license from the National Association of Financial Market Institutional Investors to underwrite corporate bonds in China’s interbank bond market (CIMB). The license enables Citi China to underwrite debt financing instruments issued by non-financial entities that have been approved by regulators.

“[The license] not only helps further enhance our ability to serve our clients, it also allows us to participate fully in the rapidly developing capital markets of China. By doing so, we will be able to make further contributions to the ongoing advancement and prosperity of Chinese financial markets. China has always been a priority market for Citi globally, we are confident and optimistic about our sustainable growth and success here,” says Christine Lam, president and chief executive officer of Citi China.

“We aim to bring more overseas investors to the China primary bond market through Citi’s global network,” says Eduardo Delascasas, Citi China’s head of markets and securities services.
