Nepal and China plan industrial park in Chitwan
Nepal ready to promote industrial development in each of its seven provinces after establishment of second industrial park in the country
Michael Marray 11 Sep 2019

NEPAL and China are planning to establish an industrial park for manufacturing and industrial processing activities in Chitwan, central Nepal, Chinese media have reported.

This will be the second industrial park being developed with Chinese support, with the other located in the eastern Jhapa district.

The announcement was made at the Nepal-China Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum 2019, jointly organised by the Embassy of Nepal to China and the Economic Joint Committee of China Commercial Stock Enterprises. The forum was held one day before the visit to Nepal by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Li, which began on September 8.

China has been the largest contributor of foreign direct investment in Nepal for the past four years, and in April this year Nepali President Bidya Devi Bhandari made a state visit to China.

Nepal's Former Prime Minister and Co-Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party Pushpa Kamal Dahal welcomed the establishmnt of the industrial park in Chitwan, and said that Nepal was ready to promote industrial development in each of its seven provinces.
