Wison to build FLNG unit for Eni gas field in Republic of Congo
Facility is part of Marine XII with a combined capacity of 3 million tonnes per annum by 2025
Michael Marray 4 Jan 2023

Wison (Nantong) Heavy Industry has signed a major engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC) contract with Italian oil major Eni for the delivery of a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) unit to be deployed offshore the Republic of Congo.

With a capacity of 2.4 million tonnes per annum (MPTA), the facility is the second of its kind to be deployed by Eni in the country.  The first one, Tango FLNG, with a 0.6 MTPA capacity, is expected to start production this year.

“Both initiatives are part of Marine XII gas valorization plan, in line with Eni’s strategy to leverage gas equity,” Eni says in a statement. It will have a combined capacity of 3 MTPA, or over 4.5 billion cubic metres per year, by 2025.

The vessel, 380 metres long and 60 metres wide, will be anchored at a water depth of around 40 metres and will be able to store over 180,000 cubic metres of LNG and 45,000 cubic metres of liquefied petroleum gas. Preliminary activities have already started, with long lead items ordered and steel for cryogenic tanks cut on December 20.

Shanghai-headquartered Wison Group focuses on energy and chemical services with three core business segments: engineering services, offshore and marine engineering, and advanced materials.

The group has a presence in Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, North America, South America, Europe and other regions. Its business scope covers onshore energy engineering services, fabrication of marine engineering equipment, and development and production of downstream advanced chemical materials.

Wison (Nantong) Heavy Industry, an affiliate of Wison Offshore & Marine, is a leading provider of clean energy technology services and solutions. It provides the energy industry with highly integrated EPCIC solutions, including floating LNG facilities, modularized LNG plant, floating gas-to-power facilities, floating wind power, and other clean energy solutions.
