HSBC has appointed Sandeep Pahwa as the head of capital financing and investment banking coverage (CFIBC) for South Asia, with responsibility for driving CIFBC growth, including mergers and acquisitions, and advisory propositions, in Southeast Asia, India and Australia.

Pahwa brings 30 years of global investment banking experience to HSBC and deep client relationships across the region. Most recently, he spent over 10 years with Barclays in Singapore where he was vice-chairman and head of Southeast Asia investment banking, as well as Asia-Pacific head of client coverage.

Previously, he was vice-chairman and head of global banking Southeast Asia at Deutsche Bank in Singapore, and led cross-border technology, media and telecoms (TMT) investment banking for JP Morgan in New York for a decade. He rejoins HSBC after 15 years having led the bank’s global media and entertainment investment banking franchise and the Americas TMT franchise from New York and London.

“South Asia is a diverse region which presents significant opportunities for our clients, both domestic and international,” says Matthew Ginsburg, global co-head of CFIBC, HSBC. “Pahwa’s appointment will further support our investment banking presence and ability to serve clients across markets.”
