The asset management arm of State Street Corporation, State Street Global Advisors, has appointed Jermyn Wong to the role of head of SPDR ETF Singapore with responsibility for managing and developing the Standard & Poor’s Depositary Receipt (SPDR) exchange-traded fund (ETF) business in the city-state across all channels, including institutional asset owners and managers, and financial intermediaries.
Wong will report to Meaghan Victor, the company’s managing director, head of SPDR ETF, Asia-Pacific distribution.
Prior to joining the company, Wong was the head of Asia ETF business development at Nikko Asset Management Asia and senior trader for Genk Capital in Singapore. In addition, he has also held a number of positions covering distribution, capital markets and product development in the local financial industry.
“With ten years’ experience in the Singaporean financial industry, Wong will oversee the further development of our SPDR ETF business in this growing market,” Victor says. “Singapore is home to some of the leading ETF investors in Asia-Pacific. We've seen growing regional demand for local and internationally domiciled ETFs at a double-digit rates over the last decade, with adoption accelerating since 2020.”
