VP Bank strengthens Asia team
Johnny Chan named head of Singapore branch and Kenneth Chan as head of intermediaries in Hong Kong

VP Bank has reinforced its Asia organization with the appointment of Johnny Heng as head of the Singapore branch and Kenneth Chan as head of intermediaries in Hong Kong.

Heng takes on his new role from June 1, subject to regulatory approval. He will report to Pamela Hsu Phua, chief executive officer for Asia.

Having worked for more than 25 years in the financial services industry, Heng has extensive international investment and management experience spanning London, New York and Singapore. He will be responsible for developing and scaling the bank's operations and activities in Singapore. Prior to joining VP Bank, he worked for Equities First Holdings, Nomura Singapore, Coutts & Co., and Credit Suisse Private Bank. Heng also held senior investment roles in a sovereign wealth fund and a single-family office.

An economist by training, Heng also holds a juris doctor degree from Singapore University of Social Sciences.

Chan takes on his new role from June 1. He will report to Reto Marx, head of Hong Kong, and help in the development and implementation of VP Bank’s growth strategy in the Greater China region.

Chan has over 30 years of financial services experience. Prior to joining the bank’s Hong Kong office, he worked for EFG Bank, UBS, Pictet & Cie (Europe), Standard Charted Private Bank, and DBS Hong Kong. He graduated from the University of Toronto with a bachelor of arts in commerce and economics and is a financial risk manager.

In Singapore, Veronica Ong has been appointed as regional lead, marketing and communications Asia, reporting to chief of staff Asia Heline Lam. With more than 20 years of professional experience, Ong is responsible for driving the bank's marketing and communication activities in Asia to support business growth in the region.

She was previously head of marketing, Southeast Asia, for Credit Suisse, and worked for organizations such as Coutts & Co. and the Monetary Authority of Singapore. She graduated from National University of Singapore with a bachelor of business administration.

In Hong Kong, Alice Chan has been named relationship manager, effective June 1. With extensive experience in relationship management, she will report to Kenneth Chan. Joining from EFG Bank, she has previously worked for UBS Hong Kong, Standard Chartered, DBS Bank and ICBC.

Karen Ho will join the bank as a relationship manager, effective June 27. With close to 20 years of banking experience, she joins from EFG Bank and will report to Kenneth Chan. Prior to joining EFG Bank, she held various banking positions at UBS, HSBC, Citibank, and AIA.
