Allspring Global Investments has appointed Andy Sowerby as managing director, head of client group for Asia-Pacific ex-Japan.
Reporting to Deirdre Flood, head of international client group, Sowerby (pictured) will lead the firm’s business development across the region, identifying ways to best partner with existing and prospective clients.
Sowerby has over 30 years of professional experience with top-tier global companies. Throughout his career, he has held senior executive roles focused on institutional and wholesale markets.
He joins from Legg Mason, where he was head of APAC ex-Japan and chief executive officer of its Australia and New Zealand operations. Earlier, he worked as global head of distribution for Martin Currie for 11 years, establishing its international business, including offices in Singapore and Australia. He also held various roles with Investec Asset Management.
Allspring, headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, has more than US$575 billion in assets under management.
