Hoegh LNG signs FSRU charter with Brazil's TSRP
The vessel is expected to start operations in late 2022 or early 2023
Michael Marray 12 Jan 2022

Norway's Hoegh LNG Holdings has signed an agreement for a 10-year floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) charter with Terminal de Regaseificacao de GNL de Sao Paulo (TSRP).

TSRP is a subsidiary of Compass Gas & Energia, a Cosan Group company that, through its distribution company Comgas, is Brazil’s largest gas distributor. The Hoegh Gannet is assigned to the charter, and operations are expected to start in late 2022 or early 2023.

The vessel has cargo capacity of 170,000 cubic metres, and regasification capacity of 1 billion standard cubic feet per day.

The LNG sector has seen heavy interest from private equity and infrastructure funds in recent years.

In May 2021, a 50-50 joint venture between Leif Hoegh & Co. Ltd. (LHC) and funds managed by Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners (MSIP) acquired all of the issued and outstanding shares of Hoegh LNG not owned by LHC.

In February 2021, one of Hoegh's main competitors, Greek shipping firm GasLog, went private after a merger with BlackRock’s Global Energy & Power Infrastructure unit.
