Investment  firm Capital Group, which has assets under management of over US$2.1 trillion, has appointed Tetsuya Koizumi as the president of its Japan business and head of Japan client group and  John Griffiths as head of UK Client Group, with both reporting to Guy Henriques, head of Europe and Asia client group.

“These appointments are critical elements to expanding our local services in markets around the globe,” Henriques says. “Our long-term approach, embedded into both how we invest and our company culture, means we can bring exceptional leaders on board with deep market knowledge, and we plan to build on these efforts to serve clients across both regions.”

Prior to that, he spent 14 years at Fidelity Investments where he was executive vice-president and head of its pension sales and pension business divisions. Koizumi started his career with Nippon Life where he served for over a decade at its Japan and United States offices.

John Griffiths brings more than 35 years of industry experience to Capital Group, most recently as head of UK and Ireland institutional business at Schroders, a firm he joined in 2015. Prior to that, he was co-head of Northern Europe at PIMCO from 2008 to 2014, focusing on the UK, Nordic and Benelux institutional markets.
