Federated Hermes bolsters APAC distribution team
Asset manager appoints three new business directors to meet growing demand in region
The Asset 21 Oct 2020

Federated Hermes has appointed three new business development directors for Asia-Pacific to meet the increasing demand for its investment and engagement capabilities in the region, according to a statement from the asset manager.

Gary Horton has been appointed head of distribution for Australia and New Zealand.  Based in Sydney, he will be responsible for raising third-party assets and delivering new business targets in the two countries. Horton joins Federated Hermes from Janus Henderson where he was head of institutional business in Australia.

Ian Manton-Hall, managing director at IMH Squared, who has been representing the firm in Australia under a third-party arrangement since 2015, will continue to play an important client role for the firm, working closely with Horton.

Alex Ng will be head of wholesale distribution for Asia, based in Singapore, starting from November. He will be joining from Aberdeen Standard Investments (Asia) where he was responsible for the distribution of firm-wide capabilities to banks and family offices regionally.

Mark Coppell joins the team in Singapore, having previously distributed Federated Investors products to the UK, Europe and the Middle East. His new role will focus on the firm’s leading global liquidity product offering. Prior to joining Federated Investors in 2017, he spent five years at JP Morgan Asset Management, most recently as global liquidity relationship manager.

All three new positions report to Jakob Nilsson, head of distribution, Asia-Pacific, for the company’s international business.

Federated Hermes, the result of a merger between Hermes Investment Management and Federated Investors in 2018, has US$629 billion of assets under management.
