BNP Paribas has appointed Paul Yang as head of Asia-Pacific in addition to his role as chief executive officer of Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) APAC, effective December 1 2020. He will succeed Eric Raynaud, who is retiring after more than 40 years in the banking industry.

With more than 30 years’ experience at BNP Paribas in senior executive roles in France and Asia, Yang will oversee the group’s activities in Asia-Pacific, while continuing as CEO of CIB APAC.

Yang was head of Greater China from 2014 to 2019 and CEO of BNP Hong Kong Branch from 2011 to 2019. Prior to that, he was deputy head of corporate finance for Greater China from 2007 to 2011, during which he led a number of high-profile initial public offerings and share placements for clients.

Other positions Yang has held include deputy CEO of BNP Paribas Hong Kong branch from 2004 to 2007, and head of territory for Taiwan from 2001 to 2004.

He holds a bachelor’s degree of science in information systems from the University of Paris XII.
