WILLIS Towers Watson (WTW) announced September 8 the appointment of Jihyun Cho Sparrow, a 26-year veteran of the finance industry, as a director in its investments business.

She joins the team as institutional investors across the region are increasingly looking for practical advice and solutions for managing their portfolios in a constantly evolving economic environment.

The Asia investments business at WTW partners with sovereign wealth funds, endowments, insurance companies and pension funds to help them achieve better investment outcomes.

Based in Hong Kong, Cho Sparrow reports to Jayne Bok, WTW’s head of investments for Asia, and will play an important role as the team further develops and expands the company’s client relationships.

“Jihyun has a deep understanding of the dynamics currently transforming the institutional market in Asia. Balancing investment risk and return has never been more important, and clients are increasingly looking for leadership in how to construct, adapt and maintain their portfolios," Bok says.

Before joining WTW, Cho Sparrow worked as vice president in the global client group at American Century Investments. She also spent 11 years as an equity analyst at UBS Securities and HSBC Securities before moving to equity sales with CLSA Securities and ING Securities. She started her career as an associate with Samsung Securities in Seoul, Korea and is a CAIA charter holder.
