The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) has appointed industry veteran Boon Sim to its board of directors.
Sim has close to three decades of global experience in the finance industry with expertise in a range of sectors including technology and healthcare.
Between 2012 and 2017, Sim held senior roles at Temasek International, most recently as president of Americas, head of markets groups, and head of life science and credit portfolios.
Before that, he had a 20-year tenure with Credit Suisse Group and its predecessor firm, The First Boston Corporation, holding various positions, last as global head of mergers & acquisitions. He is also the founder and managing partner at New York-based private equity investment firm Artius Capital Partners.
Sim is a member of the Yale University School of Management’s board of advisors. He holds a Master of Science in Engineering degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Master of Private & Public Management from Yale University, and a Bachelor of Engineering with first-class honours from the National University of Singapore.
Toronto-based CPP Investments oversees funds for more than 20 million contributors and beneficiaries of the Canada Pension Plan. As of March 31 2020, it had funds totalling C$409.6 billion (US$305.01 billion).
