Global law firm White & Case said partner Saul Daniel, a member of its Global Project Development and Finance Practice and Global Energy Industry Group, has moved from the Houston office to Singapore as part of efforts to expand its energy capabilities in Asia-Pacific.

Daniel advises clients on a wide range of complex transactions across the energy industry, including project development, joint ventures and project finance, the firms said in a statement. He has extensive experience in the upstream, downstream and LNG sectors in particular.

He has worked on major energy transactions throughout the Americas, Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. In addition to Houston, he has worked in the London and Abu Dhabi offices of White & Case.

Daniel’s relocation “continues the firm’s ongoing expansion in the energy sector in the US and Asia-Pacific, with the recent additions of energy M&A partners Mingda Zhao and Emery Choi in Houston, both of whom have substantial experience representing Asian clients, and energy projects partner Grace Fan-Delatour in Beijing,” says partner Jay Cuclis, who co-leads the firm’s Global Energy Industry Group.

Partner Andrew Clark, regional section head, Asia-Pacific EIPAF & Disputes, notes that the firm is focused on further developing oil and gas capabilities in the region while enhancing “our already strong reputation for project development and finance projects in the broader energy sector”.

“Singapore’s strength as an Asian trading hub, coupled with the expected further growth in demand for energy in Asia, makes this the right time for (Daniel) to further bolster our energy expertise in the region,” adds Clark.
