Asset manager Fidelity International has appointed Ellie Tang as director, sustainable investing, with responsibility for working with the company’s distribution partners to further integrate sustainability considerations into its real estate investments.

Tang will also work closely with the company’s research function on sustainability ratings, support engagement and voting activities with investee companies and contribute to the development of its sustainability policies and product offerings.

Tang joins the company from New World Development where she was most recently head of sustainability. She has previously held roles focused on sustainability for Link Asset Management and HSBC.

Tang, based in Hong Kong, will report to Jenn-Hui Tan, global head of stewardship and sustainable investing at Fidelity, who comments: “Real estate represents a key element of global efforts to reduce carbon emissions and to implement sustainable solutions, and Tang’s strong experience in this area, along with a background in sustainable financing, ESG [environmental, social and governance] integration and disclosure, add strength to our sustainable investing bench.

“We continue to see increasing client interest in all areas of sustainable investing and the demand for ESG expertise is growing. Expanding the capability and coverage of our global sustainable investing team ensures the company is well positioned to uphold our commitments to a sustainable future.”
