Fidelity expands sustainable investing team
Gabriel Wilson-Otto has 15 years’ experience in ESG research, stewardship
The Asset 11 May 2021

Fidelity International has named Gabriel Wilson-Otto as its director of sustainable investing, responsible for integrating sustainability considerations into the investment process, working with the firm’s research function on sustainability ratings, and supporting the execution of its growing sustainability-related regulatory programme.

With more than 15 years of experience, Wilson-Otto, who will be based in Hong Kong, joins Fidelity from BNP Paribas Asset Management where he was most recently global head of sustainability research. Prior to this, he was an executive director in Goldman Sachs’ global investment research division and head of GS SUSTAIN for Asia.

“[Wilson-Otto] brings deep industry expertise in ESG [environmental, social and governance] research and stewardship, which will be a great asset to Fidelity,” says Jenn-Hui Tan, global head of stewardship and sustainable investing at Fidelity International. “He will play an important part in helping the sustainable investing function identify long-term sustainable investment trends and strategic opportunities for our clients.”

High standards of corporate responsibility, Fidelity says, make good business sense and have the potential to protect and enhance investment returns. Consequently, it believes that the integration of ESG issues into research and investment decision-making has the potential to affect the positive long-term value of an investment.
