Barclays Andy Jones to step down as APAC CEO
The Asset 22 Feb 2017
Andy Jones is stepping down as Barclays’ CEO for Asia-Pacific and will take on a temporary role as vice chairman. Jones joined Barclays in London in 2000, and was named sole CEO for Asia-Pacific in March 2016.

Brooks

He will be succeeded by Jaideep Khanna and Reid Marsh as co-heads for the region. Khanna, who joined Barclays in 2001, retains his role as chief executive and country head for India. Marsh is currently Barclays’ head of banking for Asia-Pacific, based in Hong Kong, as well as vice chairman for investment banking.

At UBS, Randy Gelber was appointed as a managing director and head of TMT for Asia-Pacific at the beginning of April. He will work closely with his TMT counterparts in the US and Europe, and will play a crucial role in strengthening the bank’s capabilities across its TMT offering both in Asia-Pacific and globally. He will also join the Asia-Pacific regional management committee and take responsibility to help drive sector integration across the region.

Gelber, who has over 20 years of industry experience, joins from SMBC Nikko where he was most recently head of investment banking for Americas. Before that, he was at Barclays where he held senior roles, including head of technology services and enterprise solutions in the Americas and head of TMT for Asia-Pacific.

Over at Standard Chartered, industry veteran Colin Brooks has joined the bank as vice chairman for securities services, transaction banking. Based in Singapore, he will act as a strategic adviser to the business and management team, and a senior sponsor to clients. He will support the ongoing establishment of the global securities services business and its growth strategy.

Brooks will be responsible for setting up guiding principles in the implementation of the new securities services organization, and will play an important role in re-aligning the client management model to that of the wider corporate and institutional banking segment. Before his appointment, Brooks acted as a consultant for Standard Chartered’s securities services team following a 26-year stint with HSBC, where he helped build the custody and securities services business.
