The Edmond de Rothschild Group has named Ariane de Rothschild to a new position as chairwoman of the executive committee. Christophe de Backer will step down from his position as CEO on January 31 2015.

Benjamin de Rothschild, Chairman of the Edmond de Rothschild Group, said: "I would like to thank Christophe de Backer for his contribution to the transformation of the Edmond de Rothschild Group over the last three years, which involved taking difficult decisions, while allowing the Group to maintain strong results. The fulfilment of the assignment entrusted to Christophe de Backer has seen the realization of significant progress. The completion of our Group's transformation requires renewed momentum. In this context, I have asked my wife Ariane de Rothschild to oversee our Group as Chairwoman of the Executive Committee - which she has accepted."

A strategic committee, drawn from the board of directors, has been created to support her.
