The Asset has named Alibaba, Export-Import Bank of Korea (Kexim) and Republic of Indonesia as The Triple A Issuers of the Year for 2014.

Alibaba stood out this year not only for executing the world's largest and most successful US$25 billion IPO, with remarkable smoothness and efficiency, but also for coordinating successful fund-raising exercises in both bond and loan markets, while making several strategic acquisitions in the region.

Kexim once again proved it is one of the most prolific and sophisticated borrowers out of Asia, continuously diversifying its funding avenues through swift executions of several landmark debt transactions across various currencies and markets. Likewise, Republic of Indonesia has been pro-actively diversifying its funding base, not hesitating to tap new markets. This year, in addition to the US dollar and global sukuk markets, it ventured into the euro market for the first time, pricing a highly successful one billion euro offering.

In addition to announcing the best issuers for 2014, The Asset also unveiled the winners and nominees of The Triple A regional house awards as it recognizes the diligent work put up by the banks -- working behind the scenes, and in some cases, underwriting these transactions -- to bring out successful outcomes for their clients.

Citi garnered the biggest number of nominations with 12, including the highly coveted best bank and best investment bank. It was followed by HSBC with 11 nominations, securing majority of them in the fixed income and structured finance award categories.

The outright winners are DBS Bank for best Reit house, Standard Chartered for best transport finance house and DBS Vickers Securities for best brokerage house.

Following the tradition of The Asset Triple A Regional House and Deal Awards, the winners will be announced, Oscar-style, at a gala dinner in February 2015 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong.
