BNP Paribas boosts Asian cash equities team with new hires
The Asset 16 Oct 2014

BNP Paribas is rebuilding its team to bolster its Asian cash equities and advisory business, hiring 19 executives from rival banks in the past three months.

France’s biggest bank brought in former China International Capital Corp trader Christopher Jung as managing director for the sales and trading division in Asia Pacific, the bank said in a statement.

Ken Leung, previously at JPMorgan Chase & Co, also joined as director of BNP’s Asian electronic trading team, it said.

The bank also added seven research analysts for its cash-equity division, including former UBS AG analyst Ghee Peh. Sales executives from Macquarie Group including Sahil Asija also joined BNP Paribas in the past months.

The new hires should enhance the bank’s advisory and execution capabilities as it aims to boost its advisory offering in midcap companies, notably in Hong Kong, China and Japan, the bank said.
